Shakespeare helps disadvantaged youth turn lives round

YOUNG men in Gloucestershire have been saved from street life by starring in a gritty 21^st century adaptation of Macbeth. The experimental production,
funded by Arts Council England, South West, tours for seven weeks, and has rejuvenated the misfit pasts of two disadvantaged 17-year-olds.

The production of Shakespeare’s classic tale of treachery and misguided ambition supports Arts Council England, South West’s commitment to make the arts more accessible. The high-energy performance uses hip-hop beats, stage combat and live MC’ing to portray the play’s events and appeal to a modern-day, younger audience. More...

Thank you Fairgame for a spell binding production of Macbeth in our village hall on the 24th April. You gave us an intense theatre experience that we will not forget. The sheer energy of the production kept the whole audience enraptured. The fight between Macbeth and Macduff was a highlight, but all the performances of a very high quality.
